New Smallmouth Bass Record by New York Angler

On Dec. 5, Jordan harvested a remarkable 203-inch buck, nicknamed “Stomper Jr.,” at the Honey Brake property in Catahoula Parish on a Louisiana hunting trip. This achievement comes four years after Jordan, now 32, bagged a 190-inch buck dubbed “Stomper,” which he thought might be a once-in-a-lifetime trophy.
“I may never shoot another 190-inch buck,” Jordan had told Louisiana Sportsman in 2020, but history had other plans.
Jordan, son of Bill Jordan — founder of Realtree, a global leader in camouflage gear — credits the team at Honey Brake for cultivating the property’s potential for world-class deer. Initially known for duck hunting, Honey Brake has also proven itself as a hotspot for trophy bucks.
Trail cameras revealed the presence of Stomper Jr. in early November, but the elusive 250-pound buck didn’t present a clean opportunity until Dec. 5. After several close encounters and strategic adjustments, including setting up a ground blind, Jordan finally took his shot with a Franchi .308 rifle.
“When I hit the trigger, he dropped on the spot,” Jordan told Louisiana Sportsman.
The buck’s stats are jaw-dropping: 14 points distributed evenly, 26 ½-inch main beams, and a gross score of 203 inches, with a net score of 192 3/8 inches after deductions. This will likely dethrone the current Louisiana record set in 1939 — a 186 6/8-inch buck taken in Madison Parish by Marshall McKay.
For Jordan, this hunt was about more than just setting records. It was a testament to the careful management of Honey Brake’s 20,000-acre property and the thrill of pursuing a legendary deer.
“Stomper Jr. is proof of what’s possible with dedication to wildlife management,” Jordan said to Louisiana Sportsman.
With a 60-day drying period pending for official scoring, Stomper Jr. is poised to claim his place in Louisiana hunting history.
