Aimpoint is expanding factory-installed offerings of its COA pistol red dot sight through additional firearm manufacturers using the company’s A-CUT mounting interface.
Under the program, pistols will ship from participating manufacturers with the COA optic installed at the factory using Aimpoint’s slide-integrated A-CUT system. Aimpoint said more pistol models equipped with the optic are scheduled to be introduced throughout the year.
The A-CUT interface is machined directly into the slide and is designed to mechanically lock the optic in place. The system uses a front hook and rear locking wedge to reduce movement under recoil and limit the shear forces typically borne by mounting screws. Aimpoint said the design allows for a low-profile installation and consistent optic alignment while maintaining co-witness capability with iron sights.
In addition to factory-installed packages, Aimpoint will offer the COA as a stand-alone optic for owners who want to retrofit existing pistols. Because the sight requires an A-CUT cut, installation must be performed by licensed gunsmiths approved by Aimpoint. The company said it is launching a licensing program for professional gunsmiths with applications available through its website.
