iSportsman celebrates National Hunting and Fishing Day, this Saturday, September 27, 2025 with a positive message on hunting and fishing across the U.S. and what the future holds for iSportsman’s role in making hunting and fishing opportunities more accessible.
National Hunting and Fishing Day was first proclaimed by President Richard Nixon on May 2, 1972 where he “urged all citizens to join with outdoor sportsman in the wise use of our natural resources and insuring their proper management for the benefit of future generations.”
Our most recent numbers show that there are more than 14.4 million hunter and 57.7 anglers in the US today each of which has contributed to the sustainment of these great sports.
iSportsman is dedicated to preserving and expanding the opportunities that sportsmen and women have across the U.S. to foster the growth of the sportsman heritage. Part of this effort was in full effect during the participation at the Land Trust Alliance’s annual conference, Rally 2025. As well as iSportsman’s attendance at the first ever Technology and Innovation Summit for outdoor recreation hosted by the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable.

At the Rally 2025 in Cleveland, iSportsman made advances to open more land around military bases to hunting and fishing by opening partnerships with the land conservation groups who work to set aside these properties under the DoD/DoI programs of Readiness and Recreation Initiative and Sentinel Landscapes.

At the Recreation & Innovation Summit, iSportsman identified initial paths to collaborate with Recreation.gov and onX to bring technology solutions together to better serve the sportsmen and women with more seamless hunting and fishing tools. All of which is to serve the common goal of expanding hunting and fishing opportunities across the U.S. which will engage more sportsmen and women.
You can celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day by volunteering in your community, mentoring the next generation of outdoorsmen, and getting outdoors to hunt or fish this weekend.
