Victory for Colorado Mountain Lion and Bobcat Hunters
November 14, 2024 •Connor Merritt
Fort Liberty has some great turkey hunting opportunities, and spring scouting is right around the corner. Spring turkey scouting kicks off at Fort Liberty on March 30, 2024, marking the beginning of a turkey season for many hunters in North Carolina. Plan your trip with iSportsman here.
To hunt turkey at Fort Bragg and Camp Mackall, hunters must have a Fort Liberty Hunting permit along with a valid North Carolina hunting license and big game harvest report card. Hunting slots are assigned based on small game hunting units, allowing one hunter per 500 acres. Party hunting is allowed, where two individuals can sign out together, but only one can carry a weapon, occupying a single hunting slot. Both individuals must possess a Fort Liberty permit, NC hunting license, and big game harvest report card. You can also find the Fort Liberty hunting calendar for the 2023-2024 hunting season here.
Thanks to the iSportsman service, it’s incredibly easy for hunters to plan their trips, purchase necessary permits, and check in and check out of the area. The fort recently changed their check-in and check-out times, due to the current population trends of the eastern turkey in the area. Read their announcement for more details on why they made this decision. Regardless, the current check-in time is 0400 and while the check-out time is 1200.
For those going on their first turkey hunt or seasoned veterans seeking a new challenge, Fort Liberty offers a great experience that’s sure to leave a lasting impact. Plus, with iSportsman, every step of the journey — from early planning to the last check-out of the season — is easy and intuitive, ensuring a fun adventure in the heart of Fayetteville’s wilderness.
