Record-Breaking Tiger Trout at Loon Lake

The second that it tugged, Washington angler, Caylun Peterson knew it was a heavyweight fish. What he could not have guessed was that this tiger trout was a massive 24.49 pounds, easily beating the previous state record by 6 pounds. He headed out on Loon Lake in the early morning with a nightcrawler for bait and spinning tackle, he hooked the beast. with the intention of releasing it, thinking that it would grow within a year or two to an even bigger size, but failed to resuscitate it and ended up keeping it.

Not only did the trout comfortably earn a new state record but could very well be a potential IGFA world record, as the current all-tackle record is a 20-pound, 13-ounce fish caught in Lake Michigan in 1978.
