On Memorial Day, we pause to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country.
For those of us who hunt, fish, shoot and spend time in the outdoors, especially on the military bases iSportsman is fortunate to serve and even those we don’t, freedom is not an abstract idea. It is felt in the quiet of a sunrise from a duck blind, the stillness of the forest viewed from a deer stand, the gentle pull of a fish on the line and the right to gather with family and friends in the places we love.
Those moments were preserved by Americans who stood watch, went where they were called and never came home.
Many in our community have worn the uniform. Many still do. Many carry the names of friends, family members and brothers and sisters in arms who made the ultimate sacrifice. Today, we honor them with gratitude, humility and respect.
May we never take their sacrifice for granted. And may we always live in a way worthy of the freedom they gave everything to defend.
