.300 Blackout Bolt Gun Capabilities for Hunting
July 11, 2025 •Brent Spicer
Just in time for the fall opener, Winchester Ammunition has announced the release of its new Magnum Dove line of shotshells, a load developed specifically for dove hunters seeking tighter patterns and higher pellet counts.
The U.S.-made shells are available in 12- and 20-gauge and feature a blended payload of No. 7 ½ and No. 9 lead shot. According to Winchester, the batch-blended shot is designed to produce more consistent patterns and increase the chances of connecting with fast-moving birds.
The 12-gauge load delivers a 1 1/4-ounce payload at 1,400 feet per second, while the 20-gauge option pushes a 1-ounce load at 1,300 fps. Both are loaded in high-brass 2 3/4-inch shells.
“Dove season is a time-honored tradition for many hunters across the country,” said Kyle Masinelli, Winchester’s senior director of product innovation. “With Magnum Dove, we give wingshooters more confidence behind the gun.”
Each box contains 25 rounds. Winchester has not yet released an MSRP, but a quick scan of several online stores reveals the 12-gauge loads retail around $15 and the 20-gauge loads are just over $13.
