Few bass lures have earned a permanent place in tackle boxes like the curly-tail worm. Since the early 1970s, anglers have dragged, swum, hopped and shaken them in front of bass just about everywhere fish live. The design worked so well, it barely changed for more than 50 years. Ever Green is looking to change that with the new Lucy Worm, a 3.2-inch finesse soft plastic that brings modern design to a classic bait profile.
At first glance, Lucy looks familiar, with a compact worm body and thin curly tail. The upgrade is in the details. Ever Green added stabilizing body fins designed to act like a keel, helping prevent the bait from rolling or fouling during the retrieve. That keeps the tail tracking properly and helps cut down on line twist, especially when fished on light tackle.
The bait is also injection-molded for consistency. That allows Ever Green to create an extremely thin tail that moves with very little effort while keeping each bait swimming the same way. Whether crawled slowly, shaken on a dropshot or worked a little faster, Lucy is built to produce subtle action for pressured or finicky bass.
“The curly-tail worm hasn’t evolved much since the early ’70s. It was high time for a reexamination and a renaissance,” said Daiwa Field Marketing Manager Chris Martin. “With Lucy, we’ve unleashed the bait’s full potential through artisan details that make it look alive with the subtlest twitch of the rod tip.”
Ever Green designed the Lucy Worm for a range of finesse applications, including dropshot, Neko rig, Carolina rig and as a trailer on a finesse jig. The bait is also infused with Ever Green’s squid scent and flavor during construction.
The Lucy Worm measures 3.2 inches and comes eight per pack. Colors include Margarita Magic, Oxblood Red Flake, Morning Dawn, Watermelon Red Flake and Natural Shad. MSRP is $11.99.
For anglers who still believe in the fish-catching power of a curly-tail worm, Lucy looks like a smart modern update to one of bass fishing’s most trusted designs. Learn more at Ever Green Baits’ website.
